What does Canada Lands Company do?Canada Lands Company CLC Limited (CLC) manages, redevelops and/or sells surplus strategic Government of Canada properties across Canada. The company’s core values are Innovation, Value, Legacy; the company continually strives to create projects that reflect these values.
The real estate division’s areas of expertise include sale and development of properties; environmental remediation; build to suit properties and property management. The properties that CLC develops range from residential, to retail, to commercial projects.
CLC’s Tourism and Hospitality division currently manages Canada’s National Tower - the CN Tower.
Innovation
CLC works together with the local community: The redevelopment of the 18-acre (7-hectare) Benny Farm property in Montréal, Québec began in the summer of 2002, after completing an innovative community-based consultation process.
Value
CLC directs the environmental remediation of a property: In the heart of downtown Moncton, New Brunswick, CLC and its partners have transformed the former CN Railyard into the award-winning project, which includes the CN Sportsplexe recreation complex, Emmerson Business Park and Franklin Crossing residential community.
Legacy
CLC preserves Canada’s military heritage: In projects such as Garrison Green and Garrison Woods in Calgary, and the Village at Griesbach in Edmonton, CLC has taken steps to ensure that the legacy of these former Canadian Forces bases is commemorated. Through street names, public parks and special monuments, CLC has honoured those who served their country and paid tribute to men and women who have served in conflict zones around the world.
One of CLC’s most ambitious projects to date has been its award-winning transformation of the former Canadian Forces Base Calgary into a showcase for smart growth and new urbanism. With two communities on the former base already complete, CLC is now turning its attention to Currie Barracks. This project has achieved the Stage 2 Gold Rating for the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) for Neighbourhood Development Pilot Program, and which will combine residential, retail and office development.
Glenlyon Business Park, the Natural Habitat for Business, is one of the premier suburban office parks in Western Canada. Located in Burnaby, British Columbia, next to the Fraser River, the business park boasts spectacular natural amenities --and is surrounded by scenic trails and parkland.
The Village at Griesbach in Edmonton, Alberta is a testament to CLC’s outstanding track record in supporting sustainable development. CLC tackled the environmental issues head on, and spent more than $1 million on the environmental remediation of this property. CLC also renovated, retrofitted, recycled and reused materials wherever possible. An extensive network of parks, trails and four stormwater lakes to provide recreational opportunities for residents is also planned.
